Rebecca Williams

Rebecca Williams is a psychology lecturer whose teaching is grounded in authenticity, connection, equity, and student support. She is committed to creating inclusive learning environments where students feel valued, challenged, and confident in their ability to succeed. As a Latina and first-generation college graduate, her own educational experiences have shaped her commitment to belonging, representation, and supporting students as they navigate higher education.

Her teaching emphasizes culturally responsive practices and connecting psychology to students’ lives and communities. Across her courses, students explore topics such as identity, implicit bias, stereotype threat, prejudice and discrimination, gender and sexuality, and belonging. She also creates opportunities for students to apply psychology to real-world social issues, including those affecting BIPOC and other historically underserved communities.

Before entering higher education, Rebecca spent over 23 years working across the public and private sectors, with experience in operations, human resources, finance, and organizational leadership. This background allows her to bring real-world perspectives into the classroom and connect psychological theory to leadership, workplace behavior, decision-making, and organizational experiences.

In her online courses, Rebecca emphasizes accessibility, Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI), inclusive course design, and meaningful instructor presence. She believes online students should feel just as connected and supported as students in a traditional classroom and strives to ensure they know their instructor is present, approachable, and invested in their success.

Rebecca is also interested in understanding the evolving role of artificial intelligence in higher education and its implications for teaching, learning, and academic integrity. She values staying informed about emerging technologies while preserving authentic student learning, critical thinking, and students’ development of their own ideas and academic voice.

At the heart of Rebecca’s teaching is a belief that education is about people. She values learning from the experiences students bring to the classroom and creating an environment where they can grow in both knowledge and confidence.
