Bio
From 1998 to 2009, I served middle and high school students as a school psychologist in the Long Beach Unified School District before becoming an associate professor at Cal State University Long Beach, in the College of Education for the Educational Psychology program from 2007 to 2017. I also had the honor to serve as the advisor for the Black Student Union at CSULB. From 2018-2021, I was at my undergraduate alma mater, as a professor of Psychology and the Dean of Student Success at Oakwood University in Huntsville, AL. In 2021, I was hired as the Charles Bell Faculty Scholar for the Black Resource Center (BRC) at my other alma mater, San Diego State University (SDSU). Most recently I was the Director of the BRC at SDSU in the Spring of 2022-2024. Currently, I am excited to serve as the inaugural Director for the Office of Black Student Success at CSUSB.

Education
I received my training in psychology from Oakwood College (an HBCU) for my Bachelor's degree, San Diego State for my first graduate degree, and the University of Southern California is where I earned a Doctoral degree in Educational Psychology. My research agenda has focused on social capital networks, mental health, and college preparation for African American youth as well as their families.
