The CSUSB Asian Faculty Staff and Student Association (AFFSA) is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the 2026 AFSSA Scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial support to CSUSB students who demonstrate academic excellence and participate in on- and off-campus events and community service that support/promote Asian cultures and traditions.
The AFSSA Scholarship is open to all current CSUSB students regardless of age, marital status, national origin, race, religion, or sexual orientation. To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must be a currently registered CSUSB student with at least one semester completed at CSUSB.
- You must be a current AFSSA Student Member (may apply at any time; instructions in Form A)
- You must have a cumulative CSUSB GPA of at least 3.0 for undergraduates and 3.5 for graduate students
- You should complete 24 semester units for undergraduates and 11 semester units for graduates; these credits should be credits obtained at CSUSB Academic courses (i.e. No English Language courses are included).
Previous awardees are eligible to apply. However, preferential consideration will be given to applicants who have not received the award previously.
AFSSA sponsors approximately 10 scholarship awards each year. Scholarship award winners will be recognized at the annual AFSSA Spring Awards Banquet. Scholarship winners must be present to receive this award.
Award evaluation criteria include Academic Excellence, Campus Service, and Off-Campus and/or Community Activities that promote Asian/Asian-American cultures and communities.
Please be advised that scholarship funds may not be disbursed if students are not enrolled for the Fall 2026 semester. This situation would be beyond AFSSA's control. Graduating students who have a remaining positive balance on their account are responsible for initiating the refund process themselves.
To apply, please prepare a Scholarship Application Form (Form A), an Essay Form (Form B), two letters of recommendation (Form C, at least one letter of recommendation required), and a copy of your unofficial transcript (applicants should obtain this from their MyCoyote student account).
