The CSUSB Asian Faculty Staff and Student Association (AFFSA) is pleased to announce opening of applications for the 2020 AFSSA Scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide a financial scholarship award to students from CSUSB who demonstrate academic excellence and participate in on- and off-campus events and community service that support/promote Asian cultures and traditions.
The AFSSA Scholarship is open to all current CSUSB students regardless of age, marital status, national origin, race, religion, or sexual orientation. To be eligible you must meet the following criteria:
- You must be a currently registered CSUSB student with at least two quarters completed and minimum of 36 quarter units for Undergraduates and 16 quarter units for Graduates at CSUSB.
- You must be a current AFSSA Student Member (may apply at any time; instructions in Form A)
- you must have a cumulative CSUSB GPA of at least 3.0 for undergraduates and 3.5 for graduate students
Previous awardees are eligible to apply. However, preferential consideration will be given to applicants who have not received the award previously.
Scholarship awards $400 to each recipient. AFSSA sponsors approximately ten scholarship awards each year. Scholarship award winners will be recognized at the annual AFSSA Spring Awards Banquet (date is May 12, 2020). Scholarship winners must be present to receive this award.
Award evaluation criteria include Academic Excellence, Campus Service, and Off-Campus and/or Community Activities that promote Asian/Asian-American cultures and communities.
To apply, please prepare a Scholarship Application Form (Form A), an Essay (Form B), two letters of recommendation (Form C, at least one letter of recommendation received), and a copy of your unofficial transcript (applicants should obtain this from their MyCoyote student account). Scholarship award winners will be notified by phone/email on or before Apr. 29, 2019 and will be invited to the Spring Awards Banquet (scholarship award winners are required to attend).
