Current Liberal Studies Major (Catalog Year 2023-24 and Forward) Advising Worksheets and Roadmaps
Students and advisors should remember that the PAWS report is the official record of progress toward degree completion. The advising sheet provided here as intended as tools to assist students in understanding their degree requirements, not as a replacement for the PAWS. Each students’ PAWS report lists the catalog year/requirements to which they are being held, and students and advisors should be sure to refer to the appropriate corresponding worksheet and/or roadmap.
Liberal Studies Program Guide for Advising—All Concentrations
1. Credential-Integrated/Integrated Concentration
The Integrated Concentration leads to both a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies and a Multiple Subject Credential. It is designed for students who plan to become elementary and middle school (K-8) teachers and who want to save time and money by working on the credential along with their BA. Students in this concentration must complete their credential at CSUSB.
2. Precredential-General/General Concentration
The General Concentration prepares students to enter a Multiple Subject (K-8) Credential program, at any institution, after graduating with their BA. Students interested in pursuing a Special Education Credential may also be interested in this concentration.
3. Precredential Spanish Studies/Spanish Studies Concentration
The Spanish Studies Concentration prepares students to enter a Multiple Subject (K-8) credential program, at any institution, after graduating with their BA. This concentration is especially designed for students interested in teaching English as a second language to children who are English Language Learners (ELL). The concentration also prepares students to work in a bilingual/Spanish classroom setting.
