
As CSUSB’s chief academic officer, A. Rafik Mohamed works to help the university’s entire teaching corps excel, with the overall goal of helping students define their own future.

The university is ranked No. 6 in the nation among more than 1,500 universities on the annual 2021 Social Mobility Index (SMI) published by CollegeNET.

CSUSB Provost Shari McMahan was honored as a distinguished alumna during UC Irvine’s 50th Anniversary Lauds & Laurels Awards Ceremony.

More than 70 books and book chapters were featured at CSUSB’s biennial Faculty and Staff Book Launch held virtually April 12. The event showcased books or book chapters published by faculty or staff in 2019 and 2020.

CSUSB held a series of events to celebrate first-generation students and their successes as part of the second annual First-Generation College Celebration held Oct. 23-Nov. 6.

The formal kick-off at the Palm Desert Campus for the 2020-21 academic year took place on Aug. 27. CSUSB President Tomás D. Morales, now entering his ninth year leading the university, delivered the keynote address.

CSUSB held a First-Generation Summit where about 70 students, faculty and staff heard the reflections of CSUSB alumni who shared their experiences.

CSUSB Provost Shari McMahan has been named honorary chair of the National Alliance for Mental Illness Walk Inland Empire to be held in Hemet on Saturday, Oct. 26.

CSUSB is one of 18 colleges and universities participating in the American Council on Education’s (ACE) 17th Internationalization Laboratory cohort to develop strategies and goals for campus internationalization.
