
Interest in Dual Language Immersion (DLI) programs has been growing in the last two decades as a high-quality bilingual education response for all students, but especially for English learners.

During the summer term, the RCC students will attend workshops and all 38 will participate in the Undergraduate Summer Research Program conference on Aug. 10, which is open to the campus.

Thomas McWeeney (public administration) co-wrote an opinion column on that called for a more comprehensive approach in keeping school sites safe, Brian Levin (criminal justice) was interviewed about the increase in hate crimes in Texas, and Anna Long (entrepreneurship) talked about CSUSB’s two winning teams in the Sunstone CSU Startup Launch Competition.

The university will reopen for business and classes will resume on Wednesday, July 5. University Police will remain on duty on all days when the campus is closed. The university is also closed on Friday as part of its 4-10 summer schedule.

The Arbor Day Foundation has designated Cal State San Bernardino as a Tree Campus USA for its commitment to planting and maintaining trees to reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

The international partnerships will be designed to enhance international understanding and deepen friendship between CSUSB and Lviv Polytechnic National University, and CSUSB and Krakow University of Economics.

Eric Vogelsang (sociology) was quoted in an article about Gen Xers making career changes, Brian Levin (criminal justice) discussed the rise of anti-LGBTQ incidents, and Michelle Russen (marketing/hospitality management) co-authored a study on how organizations can create a more inclusive atmosphere.

California has officially recognized April as Arab American Heritage Month, thanks to the help of Mahbuba Hammad, Cal State San Bernardino full-time lecturer in the world languages and literatures department.

Beth Steffel received the Faculty Excellence of the Year Award from the Cal State Student Association (CSSA), which is given to one CSU faculty member annually whose systemwide leadership reflects a commitment to the mission of CSSA.
