Cal State San Bernardino’s Jack H. Brown College of Business and Public Administration (JHBC) has welcomed Oscar Valdez, chief deputy auditor-controller for Los Angeles County, as the newest member of its Dean’s Advisory Board.

Valdez brings extensive experience in public finance, government operations and public service to the board, which brings together executives, entrepreneurs, public officials and community leaders committed to advancing business and public administration education throughout the Inland Empire.

Through their professional expertise and community connections, board members help strengthen the college’s ties to industry and government while providing insight into workforce trends, emerging opportunities and the skills students need to succeed in their careers.

The JHBC Dean’s Advisory Board meets throughout the year to discuss the future of business education, strengthen partnerships between the college and the community, and identify opportunities to enhance student learning and career preparation. Members also help connect students with professional networks, mentorship opportunities and real-world perspectives that complement their classroom experiences.

Valdez’s appointment further strengthens JHBC’s connections with Los Angeles County and expands the range of expertise represented on the board. His background in public finance and government leadership will provide valuable perspectives as the college continues preparing students for careers in business, public administration and related fields.
