Cal State San Bernardino launches nurse practitioner program

With its newly-launched nurse practitioner doctoral program, Cal State San Bernardino is among the state’s universities aiming to address challenges in accessing quality health care — including providers — in the Inland Empire.
“We absolutely have a shortage of healthcare providers in this community,” said Renee Chastain, the program’s founding director and a professor of nursing at Cal State San Bernardino. “The IE is a very large geographical area; we have people in our communities that are driving 2 to 3 hours just to find healthcare, and issues with patients not being seen in a timely manner, just because there aren’t enough providers to see them.”
Retired CSUSB professor interviewed for segment on the FlyDubai incident

Brian Levin, founding director of CSUSB’s Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism and retired professor of criminal justice, was interviewed for a segment about the incident involving the FlyDubai flight in which the co-pilot attacked the captain. Levin said the investigation will include looking into whether the attacker acted on his own or was part of a larger plot. The segment was picked up by other newscasts nationwide.
