California State University, San Bernardino’s Office of Academic Research (OAR) has launched a new podcast series, “AI in Action,” designed to explore how artificial intelligence is transforming business, technology, higher education, leadership, workforce development and the future of work.

The first episode, “AI in Action: The AI Reset – What’s Actually Changing,” was released May 13 on the OAR homepage and on YouTube.

Hosted by Chief Research Officer Timothy Akers, the debut episode features Valerie Capers Workman, former head of human resources for Tesla and current chief human resources officer of Empower Pharmacy. The discussion examines how AI is reshaping organizational strategy, executive decision-making, workforce transformation, leadership effectiveness and operational innovation, while separating meaningful technological change from industry hype.

The podcast series builds on the momentum of CSUSB’s inaugural Defining the Future conference, held in April, extending those conversations into an ongoing platform focused on innovation, emerging technologies, research, thought leadership and public engagement.

Across its first 10 episodes, “AI in Action” will explore the impact of artificial intelligence on key sectors, highlighting the intersection of advanced technologies, human-centered innovation and the future of industries. Episodes will feature insights from academic researchers, technology leaders, business executives, entrepreneurs, policymakers and community stakeholders, offering multidisciplinary perspectives on AI adoption, digital transformation and societal change.

The podcast is designed for a broad audience, including business leaders, technology professionals, educators, workforce development specialists, students, researchers, military-connected communities, entrepreneurs and civic leaders interested in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.

By connecting academic research with real-world applications, “AI in Action” reflects CSUSB’s commitment to advancing innovation, fostering cross-sector collaboration and supporting informed conversations about the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence. Through accessible, evidence-informed discussions, the series helps listeners better understand how emerging technologies are shaping education, careers, organizations and society.
