The Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art (RAFFMA) at Cal State San Bernardino will host the opening reception for “Tóonavq cham ‘áa’alvichum” (or “Weaving Our Stories”) on Thursday, May 21, from 5-8 p.m. in the museum’s Dutton Gallery. It is free and open to the public.
The exhibition is a collaborative effort between RAFFMA, CSUSB Tribal Relations and Noli Indian School. Centered on Indigenous basket weaving created by students from Noli Indian School, the exhibition reflects ancestral stories of creation, ceremony and community values while highlighting the lived experiences of Native students navigating both Indigenous and Western educational systems.
The evening will begin with a welcome cocktail hour from 5-6 p.m., followed by introductions from 6-6:30 p.m. Guests will then be welcomed into the gallery from 6:30-8 p.m. to experience the exhibition and engage with the stories woven throughout the work.
