Students, faculty, staff and visitors who use the University Parkway-Interstate 215 interchange to reach the Cal State San Bernardino campus and the surrounding area should plan on alternate routes and extra traveling time from 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27 through 4 a.m. Monday, March 2.
On- and offramps in both directions, as well as a portion of University Parkway near the freeway, will be closed for 55 hours to allow crews to reconfigure University Parkway into a diverging diamond interchange.

Business access will be maintained on south University Parkway between Hallmark Parkway and the freeway, and on University Parkway on the north side of the freeway. Detour routes will be posted. For most commuters, the best option to access Hallmark Parkway and I-215 will be at Palm Avenue.
In addition, commuters who travel on I-210 to the campus can use the H Street exits.
Once the closure is lifted, the new diverging diamond interchange will open to commuters. The San Bernardino County Transportation Authority has posted a video (above) to help drivers navigate the new interchange.

The work is being done by the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority and the city of San Bernardino, in cooperation with Caltrans District 8, and is aimed at decreasing traffic congestion, reducing delays and improving freeway access to Interstate 215 at University Parkway.
Although the new interchange will open, work in the area is expected to continue through April. Until construction is complete, the transportation authority recommends commuters allow extra travel time to avoid delays.
Construction activities may include pavement work, traffic shifts, and nighttime lane and ramp closures. Motorists are urged to use caution throughout the corridor, where workers and heavy equipment will be present.
Regular construction alerts will be available to inform commuters about detours and closures, including when and where they will occur.
