The Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art (RAFFMA) at Cal State San Bernardino will launch Mindfulness at the Museum, a four-part wellness series presented in partnership with CSUSB’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS).
Blending mental health practices with creativity, the program offers participants a transformative experience designed to nurture well-being and self-awareness. Sessions are held during the lunch hour from noon–1 p.m. several Wednesdays in October and November, making the series accessible to students, faculty, staff and community members seeking a moment of reflection and wellness support in the middle of a busy week.
“We are thrilled to partner with CAPS to collaborate on this exciting and much-needed program,” said Alison Ragguette, RAFFMA staff member. “We believe art and wellness go hand-in-hand. These programs explore the power of wellness in creative spaces, inspiring self-awareness and personal growth. Our museum is a safe space for all and can be a wonderful environment for inner peace, reflection and contemplation.”
The series will run Oct. 1 through Nov. 19 with four themed sessions:
- Presence: Tuning In Through Mindfulness
Wednesday, Oct. 1 | noon–1 p.m.
Participants will explore the power of being present through guided mindfulness practices and psychoeducation on how cultivating awareness supports mental health, focus and emotional clarity. - Sensing: Grounding Through Breath and Awareness
Wednesday, Oct. 15 | noon–1 p.m.
This session highlights the senses as anchors to the present moment, using breathwork, grounding techniques, and mindful observation to calm the nervous system and spark intuitive insight. - Body: Movement, Mindfulness, and Mental Health
Wednesday, Nov. 5 | noon–1 p.m.
A gentle yoga workshop that emphasizes how movement supports emotional health, reduces stress, and opens creative flow, helping participants connect to their bodies as a source of balance and inspiration. - Sound: Healing Through Vibration
Wednesday, Nov. 19 | noon–1 p.m.
An immersive sound bath experience that introduces the therapeutic benefits of sound to support stress relief, emotional regulation, and deeper inner awareness.
CAPS brings decades of clinical expertise to the collaboration, highlighting the importance of accessible, culturally responsive mental health programming that meets people where they are.
“As a student who both works with and utilizes CAPS, it has become my safe space,” said Elizabeth Contreras, lead peer mental health educator with CAPS. “I am beyond excited to announce this collaboration with RAFFMA, with the hope that this series will extend that safe space across our campus. Not only does CAPS promote mental health and well-being, but it also embraces creativity, a concept well-known at RAFFMA.”
The program is designed to be flexible and inclusive. Participants may attend any individual session or complete the full series. No prior experience with mindfulness, meditation or yoga is required.
