Cal State San Bernardino, in collaboration with the POD Network and California State University system partners, will host the four-day INED 2025: Institute for New Educational Developers, from Tuesday, June 17, through Friday, June 20, welcoming 87 participants and 24 institute faculty from across North America.
This annual residential institute, centered on the theme “WAYFINDING: Mapping Pathways for Transformative Campus Change,” is designed for faculty developers, instructional designers, teaching center staff, and academic leaders embarking on or deepening roles in educational development.
“We are honored to host INED 2025 here at CSUSB. The national event will equip a community of new educational developers with the conceptual frameworks, practical tools, and collegial support needed to foster transformative teaching and learning practices on their campuses,” said Bradford Owen, institute co‑chair and CSUSB associate vice president for Faculty Development and chief academic technologies officer.
INED 2025 will empower participants to:
- Navigate the complex terrain of higher education through plenary sessions addressing identity in educational development, asset-based approaches, decision-making, and generative AI ethics.
- Choose from concurrent sessions focused on learning theory, technology-pedagogy integration, and culturally informed practices; change management, community building, universal/inclusive design, and facilitation strategies.
- Engage in small-group coaching, an unconference session, and networking meals designed to foster pathways toward campus innovation.
- Close the institute with a reflective plenary and ceremony — setting intentions for future impact on their home campuses.
INED 2025 faculty facilitators are leaders in educational development from institutions including Cal Poly Pomona, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo; Boston College; Harvard University; University of California, Irvine; San Diego State University; Wake Forest University; the University of Wisconsin, Madison; the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; and across the CSU system who will guide participants through interactive workshops and plenaries. Plenary sessions will take place in the Santos Manuel Student Union North Conference Center, with concurrent sessions meeting in classrooms in the Center for Global Innovation.
Event leadership includes:
- Co‑chairs: Victoria Bhavsar (Cal Poly Pomona), Emily Magruder (CSU Chancellor’s Office), Bradford Owen (CSUSB).
- Planning Committee: Ece Algan and Fadi Muheidat (CSUSB); Kristine Bezdecny and Catherine Haras (Cal State LA); Whitney Scott (Cal State Northridge); Bryan Berrett (Fresno State); and Lynn Tashiro (Cal State Sacramento).
