The 2023 Giving Tuesday campaign at Cal State San Bernardino was another record-breaking effort, with more than $110,000 raised by more than 500 donors from 25 states across the country – and those are just the preliminary numbers, with more checks being received and more gifts being processed.

The funds raised by the university community and its friends, part of the global Giving Tuesday event on Nov. 28, will go to student scholarships and programs. Last year, the event raised $96,000.

This year, the campaign supported 16 crowd-funding projects to help them raise funds for their special cause – many of whom have never partnered with the University Advancement division and are now part of CSUSB’s fundraising champions.

To help spread awareness of Giving Tuesday on campus, 50 faculty, staff, and student volunteers participated in the campaign’s kick-off event, where 450 Giving Tuesday-branded heart-shaped shortbread cookies were given out. The Giving Tuesday campaign webpage tracked more than 155 clicks generated by 20 campaign advocates that helped spread the word on social media, Linked In, and via personalized text/email messages to friends and family.

CSUSB is dedicated when insufficient state and federal funding fall short, actively addressing gaps with the generous support of donors. Contributions to CSUSB funds drive essential programs such as the Obershaw DEN food pantry, ensuring warm meals for the 37% of students experiencing food insecurities at the San Bernardino and Palm Desert campuses.
