Military Times has placed Cal State San Bernardino at No. 10 in the nation in its annual Best for Vets: Colleges rankings.

Military Times’ Best for Vets: Colleges is the largest and most comprehensive rankings of schools for military service members and veterans. The rankings are created by surveying schools about their veteran programs.

“Our ranking as a top 10 school in Best for Vets is in addition to our Gold status as a Military Friendly School and Military Spouse Friendly School,” acknowledges Agustin Ramirez, director of the Veterans Success Center at CSUSB. “It should come as no surprise, though. CSUSB has a deeply embedded appreciation for the service and sacrifice of our servicemembers, many of whom are our family members and co-workers, our students, our faculty and our staff.

“Our campus has a long history of supporting our military-affiliated students outside of just providing someone to certify VA education benefits. We take our students’ needs seriously and prioritize closing equity gaps through wraparound services.”

CSUSB was compared to over 300 other institutions nationwide. The university is also the only California State University to make the top 100, with California State Polytechnic University, Pomona coming in at No. 125.

In their assessment, Military Times’ Best for Vets ranked schools based on accessibility, affordability, retention and graduation, academic success indicators, programs and services, and dedicated resources to the military-affiliated student population.

“This recognition is evidence that what CSUSB provides is no mere lip service to veterans, servicemembers and their dependents,” Ramirez said. “To be ranked so highly is a particularly distinguishing honor.

“I say this time and again, but this is no feat that could be done alone. Through partnerships campuswide and through the support of our campus leadership, our students, faculty and staff, we are able to achieve great things and ensure a legacy of student success.”

The ranking features individual webpages for each individual school that makes the list. These pages include detailed information about the school, their services available to veterans and practical information that will help veterans make important decisions about their career planning and how to use the education benefits they earned through military service.
