Cal State San Bernardino and its Palm Desert Campus will be closed Friday, March 31, in observance of the state holiday commemorating the birthday of the late labor leader César Chávez.

The holiday falls at the end of the university’s spring break between the winter and spring quarters; no classes are being held March 28-30. However, all campus administrative offices remained open throughout the week. Administrative offices will be closed on Friday, March 31, and will reopen on Monday, April 1.

Spring quarter classes at CSUSB and its Palm Desert Campus will begin on Monday, April 3; Saturday classes will begin on April 1. University Police will remain on duty on all days when the campus is closed.

Former California Gov. Gray Davis signed legislation in 2002 making Chávez’s birthday a state holiday to promote service to the communities of California in honor of the late labor leader’s life and work.
