Cal State San Bernardino continues to be recognized for its outstanding academic programs, faculty, staff and services as it has again been listed among the top universities in the western United States, according to listings from U.S. News & World Report and the Princeton Review 2018 higher education rankings.

U.S. News & World Report listed Cal State San Bernardino in five different categories. The listings are:

  • 16th among top public regional universities in the West,
  • 63rd among the best regional universities in the West,
  • 31st among the best value regional universities in the West,
  • 103rd in engineering programs at universities that don’t offer a doctorate degree and
  • 290th in best undergraduate business programs.

U.S. News & World Report’s annual rankings are considered one of the most influential and anticipated recognitions for colleges and universities that provide a full range of undergraduate and master’s degree programs throughout the nation.

The U.S. News & World Report rankings were announced in the 2018 America’s Best Colleges guidebook, which was released online today, Tuesday, Sept.12. The West region includes institutions from 15 states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. The rankings are available at the U.S. News website.

The U.S. News rankings are based on several key measures of quality that include: graduation rates, retention rates, assessment by peers and counselors, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources and alumni giving rates.

In August, The Princeton Review listed CSUSB in its Best Western Colleges in its 2018 Best Colleges: Region by Region.

The Princeton Review’s 2018 annual college rankings lists are entirely based on what students attending the 382 schools in its 2016-17 “Best Colleges” book say about their colleges and their experiences at them via the Princeton Review’s student survey for this project. The student survey has 80 questions in four sections. Students are asked about: 1) their school's academics/administration, 2) life at their college, 3) their fellow students and 4) themselves. Students answer by selecting one of five answer choices that range across a grid or scale.

The Princeton Review is a leading tutoring, test prep and college admission services company. Every year, it helps millions of college- and graduate school-bound students achieve their education and career goals through online and in-person courses delivered by a network of more than 4,000 teachers and tutors, online resources, and its more than 150 print and digital books published by Penguin Random House.
