Community Translation and Graphic Medicine: Changing Lives in Any Language. A Talk by Dr. Ingrid Cobos López (University of Córdoba, Spain, and 2025 Fulbright Scholar)
Graphic narratives are emerging as a dynamic way to blend images and text, revolutionizing communication across various fields such as journalism, history, and medicine. Graphic medicine can enhance doctor-patient communication and serve as a valuable educational tool. Several studies show that comics, infographics, and illustrations make complex medical concepts more accessible. They have proven beneficial in promoting health literacy and improving patient experiences. OncoTRAD was created to help cancer patients and caregivers understand scientific information using community translation, plain language, and graphic medicine. This unique project combines medicine, translation and art to empower patients and communities in any language.
