Religious Trauma
September 3, 2024
12:00pm - 1:00pm
Alumni Center (Room 205) and Live-Streamed via Zoom

According to a 2023 study, 1 in 3 adults in the United States have suffered from religious trauma at some point in their life. While religious and spiritual practices generally have shown to be an integral part of developing positive health and mental health outcomes for many individuals, evidence shows that this is not the case for others, including many LGBTQ+ individuals. This workshop will provide an overview of spiritual abuse, outline the impact on the mental health of those affected, and provide perspectives on understanding and recovering from religious trauma.
Presenter: Marina Rodriguez, APCC, CAPS Counselor
In-person location: Alumni Center (Room 205)
