Commissioner Sandy Naranjo was unanimously appointed to the Port of San Diego Board of Port Commissioners by Mayor & City Council National City on December 1, 2020. She currently works as the Policy Advocate for ClimatePlan, a statewide organization that promotes policies for a healthier, sustainable, and thriving California. She previously worked for Mothers Out Front, where she organized thousands to advocate for a just transition to renewable energy. She was the first chair of the Sweetwater Authority Citizens Advisory Committee; appointed member of the AB 617 steering committee to advise the San Diego Air Pollution Control District; and member of the California Energy Commission’s Advisory Committee for the Clean Transportation Program Investment Plan. Besides working as a passionate policy advocate and Port commissioner tackling climate crisis, economic & racial inequities, she is proudly raising two children and teaching the importance of protecting the earth and the people that inhabit it. The Commissioner holds three bachelors’ degrees with honors in political science, political economy, and economics and a minor certificate in Women's Studies from CSU San Bernardino.
