In celebration of International Archaeology Day, RAFFMA has partnered with the Riverside & Inland Empire Local Society of the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA Riverside) for "Mining the Pharaoh's Jewels: A Story from Wadi el-Hudi."
Deep in the desert, 4000 years ago, the Ancient Egyptians led expeditions to mine amethyst to turn into jewelry for the pharaoh and his royal circle.  Dr. Kate Liszka, Director of the Wadi el-Hudi Expedition, talks about how this difficult feat occurred based on recent archaeological work.  Learn about how the thousands of people lived, worked, and were supplied all to acquire the Jewels of the Pharaoh.
