The Porter - The Untold Story at Everest Presentation and Discussion

October 9, 2020
6:00pm - 7:30pm
Zoom

Could you imagine working on Mt. Everest? carrying 220 pounds on your back with a head wrap in freezing conditions. Collapsing onto cement for a few hours of sleep after white rice for dinner. And fighting bouts of illness in high altitude as you carry your clients' gear. Now could you imagine doing that all after graduation?

This first-hand account of a privileged. post-grad's attempt to become one of the first-ever foreign-born Porters to aid a Mt. Everest expedition, and the harrowing reality he stepped into instead.

Watch the hour-long film online for free and then join us in a discussion with Nate Menninger about the film, his experience and what he hopes to pass on to others. The presentation will focus on themes of privilege, cultural relations, and travel as told through his experience, and how it relates to Everest, University life and all else back home.

WATCH THE MOVIE for Free before the discussion!
