Join us on our epic Santa Rosa Island adventure! we'll start off with a ferry ride to the island and have a short hike to Water Canyon and set up camp. The next day we wake early and set out for East Point, which is filled with numerous botanical and rock formations throughout the hike, as well as visit one of the only 2 Torrey Pine Grove in the world. The following day will be another trek through beautiful Lobo Canyon which has walls 300 feet high. On our final day, we will do some quick exploring of some shorter trails before we take the ferry back home.

Itinerary 

Day 1: Get a good night sleep and set your alarm! We meet at the SRWC at 4:00AM to load the van and drive to Ventura CA to catch our 8:00AM boat to the island. We arrive around 10:00AM and backpack 1.5 miles to our campsite. After relaxing for a bit we pack up lunch and hike up to Black Mountain (8.6 miles, 950' assent). We will then relax at camp or head to Water canyon Beach until dinner. 

Day 2: We have a big day today! After breakfast we will pack lunch and head out for East Point 8 miles away. We will check out several points of interest along the way. We return the way we came making it a 16 mile day.

Day 3: Today we will cover 9 miles and explore Lobo Canyon and if we have time to Carrington Point having lunch on the trail. 

Day 4: We will take a short hike (3-4 miles) into Water Canyon after breakfast and then return to camp to pack up and have lunch before meeting our boat at 3:00pm for our return to the mainland. We will stop for dinner on the way back to CSUSB.

Food
10 meals are included, starting with lunch on day 1 (3 breakfasts, 4 lunches, and 3 dinners)
1 meal is not included (1 dinner). Dinner of the way home is not provided. Bring money. 

Hygiene and Comfort
We will be carrying our all our food, shelter, clothing, water and equipment in a pack weighting up to 40lbs. We will be staying in reserved campsites. The campsites are within close proximity to flush toilets, drinking water, and there are NO showers. You will have the option to share a tent with one or two people or sleep out under the cover of the stars.  Light weight tents, warm synthetic sleeping bags, foam pads and ground tarps will be provided to ensure a comfortable night’s sleep. The ground consists of soft and hard soil.
