Mt. Baldy is one of Southern California’s most popular and scenic hikes.  Leaving campus at 800am, we drive to the Manker Flat Trail Head to start our 11-mile round trip hike with 4000 feet of elevation gain.  We will follow the Devil’s Backbone Trail, we climb past Mt. Harwood as we attempt to summit of Mount San Antonio (also known as Mt. Baldy since it’s bare of trees) at 10064’.  This hike provides us with unparalleled views of San Gorgonio and San Jacinto Mountains (50 miles to the east), Catalina Island in the Pacific Ocean, and the jagged peaks of the southern Sierra Nevada range.
