Great Blue Heron

The Great Blue Heron is a rare visitor to campus, with individulas occasionally seen flying over or in the flooded basins around Badger Hill. It is a common breeding resident in southern California.

The Great Blue Heron is gray overall, has a white head with dark blue lateral crown stripes, and a white foreneck with dark blue streaking and whitish underparts.
