CSUSB Mission Statement

CSUSB ensures student learning and success, conducts research, scholarly and creative activities, and is actively engaged in the vitality of our region. We cultivate the professional, ethical, and intellectual development of our students, faculty, and staff, so they thrive and contribute to a globally connected society.

About this Issue

We are calling this newsletter Collaborative Inquiry because we believe that the practice of collaborative inquiry reflects our mission. Collaborative Inquiry is a practice where all stakeholders in learning and success work together to identify common challenges, analyze relevant evidence, and engage in continuous improvement through problem-solving and inclusive strategies. Sometimes the challenges we identify are technical in nature; the solution to a problem is known and must be implemented. Sometimes the challenge is one of adaptation. This type of challenge particularly resonates in these times. The Assessment Office sees CSUSB as a learning institution, where inquiry is inseparable from learning, and learning is the foundation for discovery and adaptation. In this inaugural issue and special Commencement Edition, please check out some of the stakeholders engaging in leadership in inquiry to promote student learning and success at CSUSB.
