College of Arts & Letters celebrates four outstanding students

Loydie Burmah '21, alumna of the College of Arts & Letters and current lecturer of communication studies at CSUSB, says her proudest accomplishment is graduating with a master's in communication studies. Juggling three to four jobs at a time to support herself and her family, she originally had to leave the program. But her mentor Liliana Conlisk-Gallegos, associate professor of communication studies, did everything in her power to make sure Loydie received the proper resources to lead to her reinstatement and eventually being named a College of Arts & Letters 2020-2021 Outstanding Graduate Student. Now, as an educator herself, she strives to serve students as CSUSB has done for her.
