DSA Hosts 5th Annual Latinas Rising Conference Celebrating Latina Identity, Resilience, and Empowerment
San Bernardino, California — The Division of Student Affairs at California State University, San Bernardino proudly hosted the 5th Annual Latinas Rising Conference on November 7 at the CSUSB Alumni Center. The event brought together students, professionals, and community members to celebrate Latina identity, resilience, and empowerment through storytelling, mentorship, and leadership development.
This year’s theme, “Amplifying and Elevating Latina Voices,” highlighted the power of representation and the importance of sharing diverse Latina experiences in higher education and beyond. Attendees engaged in interactive workshops, inspiring keynote addresses, and meaningful conversations focused on leadership, cultural identity, and community building.
The conference featured keynote speakers Dr. Joanna Perez, Professor of Sociology at CSU Dominguez Hills, and Dra. Aimée Vaquera, Founder and CEO of Consejefa Consults, who shared their journeys of leadership and advocacy. Both speakers inspired participants to embrace their cultural heritage while using their voices to drive change and foster inclusion in their communities.
In addition to the keynote presentations, a dynamic student panel featuring Alejandra Martinez Alfaro, Aryanna Ruiz, Jocelyn Paz, and Lyda Robles provided personal reflections on navigating higher education, career goals, and cultural identity. Their stories underscored the strength and solidarity found in the Latina experience.
Hosted in collaboration with campus and community partners, the Latinas Rising Conference was established to provide a space for Latinas to come together in celebration of their identities, achievements, and leadership potential. Through connection and shared learning, the event encourages participants to build networks that foster success and belonging.
The Latinas Rising Conference continues to grow each year, serving as a powerful platform for collaboration, reflection, and celebration within the CSUSB community and the broader Inland Empire region.
