Cal State San Bernardino’s Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art (RAFFMA) will present “Echoes of Becoming,” a group thesis exhibition featuring four artists from the university’s Master of Arts program, on view April 23-30. An opening reception will take place on April 23 from 4-6 p.m.
The exhibition brings together a selection of works that explore identity, emotional experience and personal transformation through sculpture, painting, illustration and multimedia practices. Each artist offers a distinct perspective on how individuals navigate their inner worlds and their place within contemporary society.
Kole Morrell examines presence and the emotional weight of the “in-between” through bronze, wood and ceramic. Ricardo Moctezuma explores themes of decolonization and transformation, reclaiming his roots through painting. Rebecca Tirado confronts fear and vulnerability using raw, expressive imagery of the body in her paintings. Michelle Young blends contemporary and historical aesthetics in illustration to critique the resurgence of Orientalism.
By engaging both individual and shared experiences, “Echoes of Becoming” highlights artistic practice as a space for introspection, confrontation and growth.
