California State University, San Bernardino has announced the recipients of its prestigious 2026 Presidential Academic Excellence Scholar (PAES) program.
The PAES program is a highly competitive award that accepts 20 students each year and is based onacademic excellence, leadership, character and the potential exhibited by the applicants throughout the review and interview process.
PAES scholars are awarded full tuition coverage for up to four years; a $1,500 annual book and supply stipend; one year of on-campus housing, including a meal plan (San Bernardino campus); a transportation stipend (Palm Desert campus students); and a $1,000 stipend for an internship, study abroad or other high-impact experience after their junior year.
In addition, scholars are enrolled in the Honors College, which supports highly motivated students as they transition from high school into collegiate studies and provides a community of support throughout their time at CSUSB. Peers, faculty and staff work alongside each other in classes, workshops and experiential learning activities that include retreats, service-learning and excursions.
“This is one of the highest honors awarded to incoming students at CSUSB and we are proud to welcome a new cohort of talented scholars to the program,” said Jacob Jones, CSUSB professor of psychology and director of the Honors College. “Their achievements and intellectual curiosity exemplify the spirit of inquiry and exploration that defines our program.”
