CFA and Exam Registration

CFA requires passing 3 levels examinations, having work experience, and submitting reference letters (2 to 3). CFA level I exam is now administered four times a year. Department encourages suggests students to take CFA level I exam in August or November immediately after degree completion, depending your readiness.

How to be a CFA Charterholder

Steps to be CFA holder:

  • Pass three CFA examinations.
  • Achieve qualified work experience.
  • 2-3 Professional reference.
  • Apply to become a Charterholder.

How to enroll?

There are three enrollment requirements.  You can select one out of the following three for enrollment:

  • Bachelor's Degree
Complete a bachelor's program or equivalent program and have received a degree from the college/university. If you are not sure if your program is comparable, consult your college or university.

  • Final-Year Student
Be a final-year student of a bachelor's program or equivalent program on the date of enrolling for the Level I exam and becoming a candidate in CFA Program. Understand that you must complete your degree program prior to the date of registering for Level II.

  • Professional Work Experience
Have a combination of four years (or 48 months) of full-time work experience and/or college/university education on the date of registering for the Level I exam. The dates of education and professional work experience cannot be overlapping. Candidates are required to have a total of four years sequentially. Understand that part-time work does not qualify toward meeting the professional work experience requirement.

If you select to enroll in CFA Program through the Bachelor’s Degree or Final-Year Student requirement, then no work experience is required to sit for the exam. However, if you elect to enroll via the Professional Work Experience requirement, then a combination of four years (or 48 months) of work experience and/or college/university education is required by the date of registration. Please note that you must have four years of investment related work experience to apply to become a regular member of CFA Institute and earn your CFA charter.
