
As chief of equity and access at San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, Cherina Betters represents 33 school districts and more than 400,000 students.

Naim Aburaddi, has had an amazing academic career leading up to his acceptance into the prestigious doctoral program in media studies at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he will study the digital media’s misrepresentation of Palestinians, Arabs, Muslims and other Indigenous communities.

Theresa Gonzales, doctorate in educational leadership, and Oscar Ruiz, education specialist degree in school psychology, are first-generation college students who have earned advanced degrees.

The celebration, part of the Homecoming Week festivities, will give graduates of the university’s Educational Leadership Doctoral Program a chance to reconnect with each other and with the CSUSB community. It will take place from noon-3 p.m. at the Santos Manuel Student Union, Room 106B.

Now studying at the prestigious Near Eastern Studies doctorate program at UC Berkeley – one of the oldest and most distinguished in the country – Sanchez credits the faculty at CSUSB for helping him achieve his goal.

Douglas Simpson, a recognized expert in ethics and a professor of education, is meeting with CSUSB Ed.D. candidates during their four-week course, Ethical Leadership and Decision-Making in Education. He is co-leading/teaching the class with Jacqueline Romano, a CSUSB assistant professor of education.

Fernando Sanchez credits the foundation he received at CSUSB as playing a major role in getting into the prestigious Near Eastern Studies doctorate program at UC Berkeley -- one of the oldest and most distinguished in the country. CSUSB "helped me immensely, in more ways that I can say.”

After being accepted into four prestigious doctoral programs, Ariana Cano, CSUSB alumna and communication studies adjunct professor, decided to attend the Institute of Communications Research in the College of Media at the University of Illinois.

For alumnus and adjunct professor Andre Adame, video games have led him on a rewarding academic journey, and he has been accepted to the highly competitive doctoral program at UC Irvine’s School of Informatics.
