Incoming Cal State San Bernardino students and their families are invited to kick off the fall semester at two special events designed to help them feel connected, informed and prepared for college. On Thursday, July 30, Hire a Coyote and Family Fest will bring together campus departments, student resources and employment opportunities for an evening that celebrates the beginning of the Coyote journey.
Hosted by the Division of Student Affairs, the two events are designed to help incoming students start their college journey with confidence by introducing them to campus resources, employment opportunities and the people who will support their success.
Family Fest will take place from 4-9 p.m. on the John M. Pfau Library Lawn, offering a welcoming celebration for new students and their families. The event will feature complimentary food, lawn games, family-friendly activities, live music and opportunity drawings, along with opportunities to connect with campus departments and support services. Students and their families can also attend workshops covering majors and careers, Federal Work-Study, financial aid and academic advising, providing valuable information before the first day of classes.
From 5-7 p.m., students can also attend the Hire a Coyote student hiring event in the Santos Manuel Student Union South Lobby. Hosted in collaboration with the Career Center and Student Employment, the event will connect incoming students with on-campus employers hiring for student assistant and Federal Work-Study positions.
Students can learn about available jobs, hiring timelines and application processes, while some departments may also conduct on-the-spot interviews. Representatives from the Federal Work-Study program will also be available during Hire a Coyote to answer questions about eligibility, the application process and available Work-Study opportunities.
Working on campus offers students more than a paycheck. Student employment provides opportunities to build professional skills, gain valuable work experience, develop connections with faculty and staff, and become more engaged in campus life — all while balancing academic responsibilities.
