Cal State San Bernardino’s Palm Desert Campus (PDC) celebrated the grand opening of The CAVE at PDC on Feb. 10, marking a significant expansion of advanced technology and collaborative learning space for students at the campus.

Campus leadership, faculty, staff and students gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to formally unveil the transformed space.

The CAVE (Collaborative Academic Virtual Environment) at PDC has evolved beyond a traditional computer lab into a technology-rich hub designed to support innovation and teamwork. Funded through a Vital and Expanded Technologies Initiative, the project introduced advanced digital whiteboards, industry-relevant software, ergonomic task seating and flexible collaborative areas that accommodate both individual and group work. The redesigned layout also includes an accessible printer station to better serve all students.

Designed with adaptability in mind, The CAVE at PDC supports hands-on learning, problem-solving and real-time collaboration. Its updated layout and integrated technology align with current academic and professional environments.

Attendees toured the space, viewed demonstrations and connected with campus partners during the opening celebration.

The CAVE at PDC reflects the university’s continued investment in expanding student access to modern technology resources and strengthening academic support services.
