Cal State San Bernardino will launch an IRA-funded AI workshop series for students in fall 2025 and spring 2026. Built on a rigorous academic foundation of six published books — totaling nearly 3,000 pages — on artificial intelligence, pedagogy, equity and educator practice, the series transforms scholarly research into practical, hands-on skills students can use immediately in their coursework.

The workshops are designed to help students integrate AI into the learning process — brainstorming, outlining, studying and research planning — while maintaining authorship, judgment and accountability. Each session emphasizes ethical and responsible AI use, encouraging participants to verify sources, protect privacy and submit work that reflects their own ideas.

Viktor Wang, professor in the College of Education and the series lead, will hire five student mentors to demonstrate responsible workflows in real time, share checklists, and offer brief one-on-one guidance during and after each session.

In advance of every workshop, the Registrar’s Office will share short video previews outlining what to expect and how to prepare. The first preview is available now.

The series aligns with the California State University system’s AI initiative, which includes a $16.9 million investment to provide secure, educational AI tools across all 22 campuses. The goal is to ensure CSUSB students graduate with practical and ethical AI fluency — skills that will prepare them to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.

Workshops will be open to all CSUSB students in fall 2025 and spring 2026, with priority topics supporting high-enrollment courses and key pathways in first-year writing, research methods, and STEM and health disciplines.

For dates and registration details, students are encouraged to watch their CSUSB email for the Registrar’s video previews.
