Cristina Mora, the Chancellor’s Professor of Sociology at UC Berkeley, will present “Normalizing Inequality: How Californians Make Sense of the Growing Divide,” a talk that will take place at noon Thursday, Oct. 16, at Cal State San Bernardino’s Faculty Center for Excellence (PL-4005).
California in the last four decades has become more diverse, yet also more unequal, with public media describing the state as the richest and poorest state in the country. Mora’s talk will focus on her research that explores how Californians interpret and respond to the widening social and economic divide, based on interviews and survey data collected across the state.
Mora received her M.A. and Ph.D. from Princeton University, and her B.A. (highest honors) from UC Berkeley. She was the winner of the 2010 American Sociological Association Distinguished Dissertation Award.
The program, presented by the CSUSB Libraries, is free and open to the public and is co-sponsored by the Faculty Center for Excellence and the Hispanic Heritage Month Planning Committee.
