A program aimed at stopping human sex trafficking is set for Monday, Jan. 22, from noon-2 p.m. at the Santos Manuel Student Union Event Center C.

The panel presentation, “Taking Steps to … Stop Human Sex Trafficking,” can be used to fulfill the 2017-18 End Sexual Violence Training requirement that is mandatory for all Cal State San Bernardino students. The deadline to complete that requirement is Wednesday, Jan. 24.

Registration is required and space is limited for the program. To register, or request special accommodations, contact Karen Solorio at karen.solorio@csusb.edu  or (909) 537-3679.

“Taking Steps to … Stop Human Sex Trafficking” will include a panel of speakers from the following community agencies:

  • Open Door, Dianne Amato and Emily Dickson;
  • Rebirth Homes, Debbie Martis; and
  • CASE: Anne Michelle Ellis.

The documentary film “Break the Chain” will also be shown. Produced and directed by Michigan documentary filmmakers Laura E. Swanson and Kirk Mason, “Break the Chain” is an award-winning, feature-length documentary film that addresses the often “hidden-in-plain-sight” issue of human trafficking within Michigan communities and the United States.  The film chronicles two survivors of human trafficking — providing a detailed look at how trafficking goes unnoticed within our backyards.

Time also will be set aside for participants to discuss how they can take steps to end human sex trafficking.

The program is sponsored by the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences and the Institute for Child Development and Family Relations, in partnership with CSUSB Adult Re-Entry, Voice Family Assistance, Open Door and PsiChi.
