Cal State San Bernardino’s Palm Desert Campus will host its ninth annual Environmental and Sustainability Expo on Friday, May 4.

An all-day event geared toward students from all three Coachella Valley school districts, the expo kicks-off at 8:45 a.m. in the campus’ Indian Wells Theater with keynote speaker Deborah McGarrey, public affairs manager, Southern California Gas Company, who will discuss “The future of natural gas.”

Following the keynote speaker, representatives from local green industries, including Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District, SMaRT Education, Renova Energy and the CSUSB Water Resources Institute – Salton Sea Archives will be on hand to encourage students to learn more about working in green science fields.

Students also will be able to participate in interactive presentations given by The Living Desert and local science teachers.

Tours of the campus’ Palm Desert Health Sciences Building, which is Gold LEED certified, will take place during the presentation period.

Students from the Palm Springs Unified School District will also screen their top environment-related digital films (DigiComs).

This year’s sponsors include Southern California Gas Company, Renova Energy, Palm Springs Air Museum, Coachella Valley Unified School District, Desert Sands Unified School District, Palm Springs Unified School District and Coachella Valley Water District.
