The annual Yotie Awards, which took place on June 1 with a 1980s theme, recognized the achievements of student assistants from the Santos Manual Student Union and Student Recreation and Wellness Center, as well as the SMSU Board of Directors, the governing body for the student union.

The SMSU Board of Directors was the first to be recognized.

“I’ve worked with many board members over the years, and I was just so impressed with the amazing group of young people that we work with,” Aaron Burgess, executive director of the SMSU, said of the board. “But the students, all of you, I really, really appreciated this. I hope you guys move on to bigger and better things.”

A total of 193 students were awarded or recognized, including those who exemplify the vision and mission of each department, those with a 3.5 grade-point average or better, and those who are graduating this year.
