Cal State San Bernardino will look to expand musicianship at the individual and ensemble levels for high school students in its inaugural CSUSB Summer High School Band Camp, July 8-12 on campus.The camp will give students entering grades 9-12 in fall 2018 a challenging, positive learning environment that will expand their musical development and skills in the use of either woodwind, brass or percussion instruments.“We are extremely excited to offer this brand new component to our summer music camps,” said Nicholas Bratcher, CSUSB director of bands. “The Summer High School Band Camp is sure to be an exciting and positive experience, and we can’t wait for this July!”The week-long camp will focus on the advancement of techniques related to wind band development and student leadership, and will include the opportunity for campers to participate in chamber ensembles, master classes, elective courses, full wind band performances, social activities and more. Campers will also be given a chance to perform in ensemble settings throughout the week with groups featured in the CSUSB Thursday concerts.The final concert will feature CSUSB wind band and chamber ensembles, on Thursday, July 12, at 7:30 p.m., in the Performing Arts Building Recital Hall.
