Hoopla digital, the category-creating mobile and online service for public libraries, has entered into a partnership with Cal State San Bernardino giving students exclusive online and mobile access to free dynamic library content.

Cal State San Bernardino is the first participant in hoopla digital’s pilot program with university libraries. The service is leading the dawn of a new digital era for libraries across North America. hoopla digital partners with public libraries to provide patrons with mobile and online access to more than 380,000 movies, music albums, TV shows, audiobooks, eBooks and comics.

CSUSB students in San Bernardino and its Palm Desert Campus can now use their Coyote ID to access the hoopla digital app or website to begin enjoying thousands of titles from major Hollywood studios, television producers, record companies and publishers. This content is available for students to borrow 24/7 for instant streaming or temporary downloading to their smartphones, tablets or desktop browser.

“Imagine getting access to your university library content from your dorm room or when you are home for the holidays. This university library partnership is a first for hoopla digital. We are thrilled to join with Cal State San Bernardino in defining the future of the university library and to bring our service to these students,” said Jeff Jankowski, owner and founder of hoopla digital.

There is no waiting to borrow titles on hoopla digital since on-demand content can be enjoyed by multiple students simultaneously. CSUSB students who use hoopla digital also avoid library late fees as digital content borrowing periods simply expire without additional charges.

“We’re excited to give our nearly 20,000 students in San Bernardino and at our Palm Desert Campus mobile access to this collection of movies, music, eBooks and more through hoopla digital.

This partnership is designed to meet the needs of the mobile generation – giving our students anytime and anywhere access to free dynamic library content,” said Cesar Caballero, Dean, Pfau Library, Cal State San Bernardino.

“You must have a Coyote ID to access this content on the hoopla app or website. Students can borrow this content – including Billboard Top 100 music albums on street date, Hollywood movies, comics and more – free of charge. There is also no waiting period for popular titles and hoopla’s automatic return means no late fees.”

hoopla digital’s evolutionary service, which has partnerships with more than 800 public library systems across North America – including Los Angeles Public Library, San José Public Library and San Francisco Public Library – is now opening up partnerships to patrons of both public and university libraries.

'We're delighted that Cal State San Bernardino is the first academic library in North America to partner with hoopla digital to provide students with free, on-demand access to an array of digital media content, including music, movies, eBooks and more. This new service enhances the university's ability to meet the evolving information literacy and recreational needs of 21st century students,' continued Caballero.
