The fundamentals of effective business writing will be the focus of a workshop on Thursday, Oct. 15 by the Inland Empire Women’s Business Center, a program of the Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship at California State University, San Bernardino.

“Business Writing Basics” will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the Inland Empire Women’s Business Center, 3780 Market St., in Riverside. The cost is $20 per participant. To register, visit the IEWBC website.

Participants at the workshop will learn the basics of effective business writing, including how to organize thoughts and topics into an outline, how to avoid common grammar and usage errors, and how to tailor writing to different audiences and media in a way that improves the chances that it will be read and acted upon.

“Well-written business plans, proposals, and emails help carry the message that your business is professional and competent,” said IEWBC instructor Dee Ann Chandler. “Focusing on your audience and communicating with them in a way they understand can help ensure that your message gets through the inbox clutter.”
