The 6th Annual Walk to Remember event, sponsored by Cal State San Bernardino’s Institute for Child Development and Family Relations, will be held Saturday, Oct. 24, at the CSUSB campus.

The annual 5k walk commemorates the lives of families affected by the passing of a baby during pregnancy, through stillbirth, or infancy.

Registration for the IE Walk to Remember is $25 online prior to the event at the Forever Footprints’ IE Walk to Remember website. Registration on the day of the event will be $30. Children age 10 and under are free, as well as parking in Lot C.

Check-in and registration for the walk begins at 8 a.m. on the south lawn of the John M. Pfau Library at CSUSB, with pre-ceremony activities including a photo booth, T-shirt customization, children’s face painting and crafts.

The Memorial Ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Remembrance Walk at 9:45 a.m. An After-Walk Picnic will take place and families are encouraged to bring food. The Memorial Walk will take place at 11:30 a.m., while the event itself is scheduled to end at 1 p.m.

All proceeds from the event will support the many programs designed to provide support and education to families and hospitals who have lost a baby. For more information on the programs available, please visit the Forever Footprints website programs page.

Forever Footprints, originally named OC Walk to Remember, is a non-profit organization that provides families who have suffered a pregnancy or infant loss with the best support, comfort, and resources possible.

Founded in 2005 by Kristyn von Rotz and Lyndsey McLaughlan in remembrance of the loss of their own babies, the organization has since expanded to offer more walks, events and programs to the community.

This event, and others like it, offers families a place to share their baby with the public and meet families coping with the same journey of love and loss. Come support the non-profit organization as they walk for the steps that those babies were unable to take. For more information or to make a donation, visit the Forever Footprints website.
