High school and community college students, counselors and the public are invited to attend an open house at Cal State San Bernardino highlighting the university’s nationally recognized cyber security program and the InfoSec Club on Friday, Feb. 26.

The open house is free and open to the public and will be held from 5-7 p.m. in CSUSB’s Jack Brown Hall patio and rooms 122, 124 and 125. Parking is $6 on campus.

Students will learn about the cyber security field, interdisciplinary programs, scholarships and career opportunities as well as see demonstrations on drones, Raspberry Pis, ethical hacking, digital forensics, leadership, cyber hygiene and cyber patriot.

Attendees will also learn about the Information Security Club, which is open to all CSUSB majors. The club provides students the opportunity to practice skills in the Information Assurance and Security Management research lab, attend events, and become a member of the National Information Systems Security Association.

Since 2008, Cal State San Bernardino has been a national leader in cyber security education. The program’s excellent curriculum and faculty expertise in cyber security led to a Center of Academic Excellence designation from the National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security (in Cyber Defense/Information Assurance) through 2021.  As the lead for the CAE community, CSUSB’s nationally recognized program continues to develop future cyber security professionals and curriculum while forging strong industry partnerships.

The information and decision sciences department has received cyber security grants from the National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Defense and other federal and state agencies. These grants allow the university to offer full scholarships and help make cyber security programs available across disciplines at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
