Cal State San Bernardino students came away with 22 awards from the 8th largest advertising student competition in America.

The American Advertising Federation-Inland Empire Student Competition awarded 19 CSUSB students the silver and bronze awards in eight different categories competing amongst seven different schools.

Held in Riverside on March 18, people from across the county attended the regional portion of the national advertising competition at the Mission Inn Hotel & Spa. The CSUSB art department supported the cost of students’ entries this year, and the dean’s office of the College of Arts and Letters purchased tickets for students to attend the awards gala.

“The creative work that CSUSB students submitted this year was extraordinary,” said Jacob Poore, CSUSB Coyote Advertising program manager and education chair for the American Advertising Federation-Inland Empire. “Every CSUSB student who submitted an entry this year won an award. It is a testament to the high-quality instruction they are receiving at CSUSB.”

All students are now eligible to compete in the AAF District 15 Student Competition for a chance to qualify and move forward towards the national stage of the American Advertising Awards. Students graduating in 2016 are still eligible to submit their work for the 2017 student competition.

Conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation, the Inland Empire ADDY Awards is the first of a three-tier, national competition. Concurrently, all across the country, local entrants vie for recognition as the very best in their markets.

“Winning students now have a very impressive award to include on their résumés, which is highly valued and recognizable to employers in our industry — from New York to L.A.,” said Poore.
