About 190 students, many of them the first in their families to attend college, graduated from Cal State San Bernardino’s Palm Desert Campus during its 26th annual commencement ceremony on June 16.
The family and friends joined the graduates at The Show at the Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa in Rancho Mirage. The graduates were joined by university administrators, faculty, California State University trustees and community leaders.
Special awards were given to Magdalena Martinez for Outstanding Undergraduate Student and Frank Uribe for Outstanding Graduate Student.
Martinez, who lives in Palm Desert, received her bachelor’s degree in graphic design and marketing, and is graduating cum laude, or with honors.
Uribe, who lives in Palm Desert, received his blended bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting.
