The staff of CSUSB’s Coyote Radio and Advertising stood on the field alongside some of the best Little League Baseball players in the world, while Lacey Kendall, producer for the program My Awesome Empire, threw the first pitch … a strike, according to the umpire, although Kendall insisted it was “a little on the outside.”

Kendall’s pitch kicked off the double-elimination game on Aug. 9 between Arizona and Nevada at the Little League Baseball Western Regional Tournament leading up to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa., later this month.

Prior to the game, the Coyote Radio and Advertising group was treated to a VIP tour, including entrance into the live ESPN mobile broadcast control booth and into the crow’s nest  high above the field, where the ESPN camera crew operates. The Coyote crew even ran into Brian Nettles, a field producer for ESPN and a CSUSB communication studies alumnus.

In October, the My Awesome Empire show will feature a story on the all-volunteer doctors and medical team that supports the Little League teams, families, and other spectators at the Western Regional Tournament each year.
