Military women will have the opportunity to learn to “think like a negotiator” at a two-day training on Thursday and Friday, June 24 and 25, presented by the Inland Empire Women’s Business Center, a program of the Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship at Cal State San Bernardino, in partnership with CAMEO, The Jonas Project, and Colton-Redlands-Yucaipa ROP.

“Think Like a Negotiator” will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Colton-Redlands-Yucaipa Regional Occupation Program campus, 1214 Indian Court in Redlands. Cost is $47 per participant and includes a light breakfast and lunch. A limited number of scholarships are available to those who qualify.

For more information and to register, visit the IEWBC website.

The training is open to women veterans, active duty women and reservists, and military wives.

Eldonna Lewis-Fernandez, a retired U.S. Air Force veteran with 23 years of honorable military service and a negotiation and contracts expert, will facilitate the two-day event.

With more than 30 years of leadership, contracts management and negotiation experience, she has negotiated contracts from $1 to over $100 million, both stateside and internationally. She was deployed to the Middle East after 9/11 and has years of experience in foreign acquisition.

“Learning to create ethical outcomes through negotiation is a valuable skill for both business and personal relationships,” said Nicole Kinney, director of the IEWBC. “A skilled negotiator is prepared, knows what she wants, and knows what she can offer in order to reach an agreement that creates a win-win result. Eldonna’s training is always upbeat, engaging, and supportive, so that participants learn to ask for what they want – and get it - without creating a negative atmosphere.”
