For the fifth time in the last six years, the Cal State San Bernardino women's soccer team has earned the acclaimed National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award, the organization announced today, Thursday, Oct. 6.

Under the direction of second-year head coach LeBaron Hollimon, the Coyotes collectively earned a 3.09 grade point average for the team roster of 2014-15.

'Congratulations are in order for our team members, coach Hollimon, and assistant coach Katie Rumfola,'' said Meghan McGarry, CSUSB athletics academic advisor. 'Academic honors are a clear indicator that hard work and effort in the classroom pay off.''

A total of 892 soccer teams (314 men, 578 women) from throughout the United States have earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award for exemplary performance in the classroom as a team during the 2015-16 academic year.

CSUSB is among 222 schools receiving honors for both their men and women's teams.

To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player's GPA, then dividing by the number of players.

The Coyotes (4-5-1, 3-2-1 CCAA) are at home this weekend when they take on Cal State East Bay (Friday, Oct. 7) and Stanislaus State (Sunday, Oct. 9).
